Dayna Goldsmith

Dr. Dayna Goldsmith graduated from UCVM in 2013 as part of the second graduating class of vet students. Completed a residency in Anatomic Pathology at the University of California Davis becoming a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists in 2016. Works at UCVM as an instructor and diagnostic pathologist within the Diagnostic Services Unit with expertise in Wildlife Pathology. Also the director of the Alberta Node of the Canadian Wildlife Health Cooperative (CWHC).

Jamie Rothernburger

Dr. Jamie Rothenburger is an assistant professor, a veterinarian who practices pathology, a wildlife disease researcher and a writer. She grew up in rural Saskatchewan and studied veterinary medicine and veterinary pathology at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. She was awarded the Governor General’s Academic Gold Medal and Forester Medal for her PhD work at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph. She joined the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in February, 2018.

Her research focuses on infectious diseases at the intersection of the environment, people, wildlife and domestic animals and she has published on a range of species and disease processes. Dr. Rothenburger writes a monthly column for the Western Producer, Canada’s largest agricultural newspaper and has published over 250 articles for general public audiences. She lives in Calgary with her husband and three towheaded children.

Katie Waine

Dr. Katie Waine is a diagnostic veterinary pathologist with a special interest in ruminant respiratory disease. Originally from the UK, she grew up on a dairy-beef calf rearing unit and then worked as a veterinarian in production animal practice. Dr. Waine is now based part-time at the UCVM Diagnostic Services Unit in Calgary, while continuing to remotely report farm animal cases for a laboratory in the UK.
